Prayer Letter Ministry

General Information

HIM Prayer Letter Ministry, formerly known as "Servants' Missionary Service" (SMS), became a ministry of HIM in 1999. The purpose of SMS/HIM is to provide a physical support for missionaries and other Christian organizations throughout the world whose primary purpose is to fulfill the Great Commission. In this support role, we strive to do what we do best to allow those on the field to do what they do best – and all to the glory of God.

We receive the contents of a prayer letter via traditional mail services, email, fax, or hand delivery. In conjunction with the missionary, we proof and format the contents into prayer letters. Next, we print the quantity necessary for the missionary's mailing list, fold and insert the letters into envelopes and then attach mailing labels with barcodes to the envelopes. Our inserter can handle up to four pieces of mail at a time, enabling prayer cards or return envelopes to accompany the letter. Lastly, letters - mailed in bulk to ensure the lowest rate - are delivered by our staff to the post office and are on their way to friends and family. HIM currently serves 300 missionary families that are located in 80 different countries and are represented by 63 different evangelical sending agencies.
